Calamine Itch Relief Herbal Balm
Uh oh! You got bit by a mosquito, or poison ivy rash is popping up?! Mama would say use calamine!
Luckily, this balm is infused with herbs, zinc, and clay—non of the synthetic ingredients of Mama’s calamine lotion.
Cold-pressed, infused wild goldenrod oil, harvested right here on our farm hugging the Blue Ridge Mountains of Rappahannock, Virginia make of this decadent balm.
Did you know Calamine literally means zinc+iron? Zinc oxide gives calamine lotion and this balm the soothing, anti-itch properties due to its astringent and anti-histamine properties. Iron oxide, however, is a controversial colorant in the use of cosmetics.
That being said, our Calamine balm gets it notorious pink hue from rose clay instead of iron oxide.
Ingredients: Cold-pressed infused goldenrod oil, zinc oxide, shea butter, rose clay, beeswax, vitamin E.
All apothecary items that may melt such as balms, salves, chapstick, butters, candles, or soaps will be held at your local post office to avoid them melting in the heat during summer months!
Persons with allergies to other members of the Asteraceae family (such as feverfew, chamomile, or Echinacea species) should exercise caution with goldenrod (Solidago gigantea), as allergic cross-reactivity to Asteraceae plants is common.
